Comic Making

I created a comic introducing the topic of homophones to my 3rd graders. This is an example of one way I would/will use this tool in my classroom. My students are engaged with technology, so I believe that they will pay more attention to this type of instruction (comic book characters introducing a topic) that to me standing in front of them simply telling them what a homophone is and is not. Another idea I have, would be to eventually have my students use this tool to create their own comics. They could retell a story, give main ideas for a writing prompt they are going to complete, or even use it to tell steps to solve a problem. I will have to make sure the students are trained on the technology, but the videos on the website will help make that process easier. Please enjoy my comic that I will be using with my 3rd graders next week as we continue work on homophones!

  1. Sarah,
I really like your comic. I definitely think third graders would get a kick out of it. I also like how the end of the comic gives the students a homophone activity to do. Nice work!
